Dark clouds over the black state party in Lower Austria: Six months before the state elections, the federal and state SAIs are now even investigating the ÖVP.
Court of Auditors picks ÖVP to pieces, headlined the “Krone” yesterday. The state party also gets its fat from the long list of criticisms. For example, the committee wants to check whether a training course for the Lower Austrian Association of Municipalities, which costs about two million euros, has also been paid for with municipal funds, for which “there are no indications” according to the ÖVP.
The Court of Audit also says that a donation from the ÖVP of 64,000 euros has not been shown and has therefore not been reported. The ÖVP speaks of “freedom of expression” and emphasizes that it was not a donation, but an advertisement.
The opposition, which – as reported – has already ordered special audits from the Court of Auditors over similar allegations, feels confirmed. “The clean handling of donations should also apply to the ÖVP”, says Indra Collini, national spokeswoman for Neos. In the state parliament, the Pinken want to campaign again for more transparency in party finances.
