In the non-statutory proposal, Sumar points out that this tariff would serve to address the problem additional costs that tourism entails related to cleaning, transport and security services, among others.

Hernández recalled that on several occasions PNV, PSE and PP have rejected parliamentary initiatives in the Basque Chamber that proposed a tourist tax and have not dared to apply it. “under pressure from employers in the sector.” If this initiative is rejected, he noted, Sumar would propose a regulatory proposal through a bill.
