Investigation closed – What secrets does Pilnacek’s laptop hold?

Date:

Many surveys, much information, huge amounts of data, including from the private laptop of the late top official Christian Pilnacek, which was leaked to the “Krone”. Investigators Martin Kreutner and Co. are completing their investigation.

Tension is rising. Nervousness is rising. At the end of this week, the investigative committee will present its findings on the Pilnacek case. According to a secret tape recording, the once top judicial official made serious accusations against the ÖVP at the end of July 2023. They wanted him to intervene in the proceedings or stop house searches. Which he, Christian Pilnacek, refused to do. Almost three months later, he died suddenly at the age of 60. The tape was leaked to “Krone”. After its publication, Justice Minister Alma Zadić (Greens) instructed corruption investigator Martin Kreutner to set up an investigative committee to investigate possible judicial interventions by politicians since 2010.

“Lots of relevant information”
Over the months, numerous people have testified, often for hours (according to the Commission, “much relevant information”), and vast amounts of data have also been submitted to the Commission. Among them, Pilnacek’s private laptop, which was believed to be missing, along with USB sticks and the contents of the officer’s email accounts. He was required to hand over his work equipment after his suspension (for alleged data sharing).

Legal Advisor and the Secret Files
Due to all the large amounts of data, the U-Commission needed a few weeks longer than planned. The “Krone” has pre-saved the submitted content and is also assessing it. There are thousands of documents, many of which come from Pilnacek’s own proceedings. But there are also many secret files on the private laptop. From Ibiza/Novomatic to Eurofighter. Incidentally, also from the black Ministry of the Interior from April 29, 2022. To AG Fama, who deals with the Marsalek/Wirecard and the Secret Service/BVT cases. Pilnacek had long been suspended. In addition, internal communications from opponents of the WKStA or correspondence with people from the immediate environment of the ÖVP are recorded. Most recently, especially with Eckart Ratz, former OGH President and short-term minister.

He also eloquently defended Sebastian Kurz at the U-Commission. Strategies were developed to counter the suspension. Pilnacek also acted as a kind of legal advisor, especially for Türkise – his email account, for example, contains the judge’s summons to the office of ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz for his trial for making false statements. Kurz himself stated that Pilnacek had advised him.

“Crazy WKStA” and dossier on Russian influence
Also on the laptop are extensive chat protocols, some of which have not yet been made public. Disparaging communication between Pilnacek and confidants of the ‘dilettante’ and ‘crazy’ WKStA reinforces the impression of a major enemy. English-language files on Russia’s influence on Austria, for example, are also interesting. According to information from “Krone”, they probably originate from foreign secret services. Details about the content of the data carriers will follow. As will the assessment of the U-Commission.

By the way: apparently there was another probably important data carrier. However, this one is said to have ended up in the Danube.
