It was Lehendakari Pradales who announced the call during a performance after the meeting of the Government Council. Regarding the meeting held last week with Sánchez, he believes that it will serve to “impose a new rhythm” on the transfer of pending powers.
Optimistic. This is how the lehendakari has shown itself Imanol Pradales in the appearance, today in Ajuria Enea, to take stock of the contacts he has had in recent weeks with political parties, unions, employers, professional associations and university rectors. He has positively appreciated the attitude of all the agents and hopes that “the new phase” will continue in the month of September.
In this sense, he announced that the Minister of Health of the Basque Government, Alberto Martínez, 5 September to a meeting of all the members of the table that will be responsible for reaching an agreement on a country pact for the health system. Pradales stated that one of the issues that “most worries the Basques” is health and specified that from that first meeting “a new phase opens for dialogue, debate and also for agreement”. “We will have time to work and find meeting places. Euskadi needs it and the Basques deserve that we make it possible”, he noted.
The Minister of Health will present a diagnosis of the situation and needs of Osakidetza during the September meeting, to later collect the contributions of the various agents, and as announced by the Gasteiz Executive, the Lehendakari has established a six-month period starting in September to reach an agreement on the health pact.
During his speech, Pradales also referred to the meeting he had last week with the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez. After expressing his satisfaction with “the climate of trust and candor” in which the meeting took place, the Lehendakari stated that both he and the Spanish leader share “the same road map” regarding the observance of the 1979 Gernika Statute and are in favor of a new legal framework agreement. “We have the duty to offer a new generation of Basques a new framework that guarantees their well-being and offers Euskadi new tools to be able to grow in this world that has very little to do with the one of 45 years ago.
Thus, he assured that the next step in this process will be the activation of the Bilateral Transfer Commission between Euskadi and the State, which he indicated will “impose a new rhythm” on the transfer of pending powers. He therefore believes that the meeting that will be held this afternoon between the Minister of Governance, Digital Governance and Self-Government of the Basque Government, María Ubarretxena, and the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory of the Spanish Government, Ángel Víctor Torres, will be fruitful.
