List of 9 parties – NR elections: Approximately 7.6 million ballots are printed

Date:

The candidate parties have been determined since last week and their candidate lists have been officially approved by the electoral authority – the approximately 7.6 million ballot papers and postal voting documents for the National Council elections are now being printed.

At least 1.2 times as many ballot papers must be produced as there are eligible voters in the country. The National Council’s election regulations require a reserve of 20 percent. With a provisional number of eligible voters of 6.34 million, this amounts to more than 7.6 million ballot papers throughout Austria. As soon as they are ready and distributed – in about two weeks – the municipalities can send out the voting cards.

The postal voters receive not only the ballot paper, but also the envelopes for it and two brochures. In one you will find all the federal party lists, in the other all the state party lists – as information for the allocation of preferential votes.

In addition to the five parliamentary parties – ÖVP, SPÖ, FPÖ, GRÜNE and NEOS – these are the Beer Party (BIER), the KPÖ, “Keine von den” (KENE) and the Madeleine Petrovic list (LMP). Only the Carinthians have this selection; no other list has put itself forward as a candidate. In Burgenland, voters can also choose between the GAZA and “Die Gelben” (BGE) lists.

In the states of Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Vienna, voters can vote for the GAZA and MFG lists in addition to the nine national candidates. In Salzburg, only the MFG made it onto the ballot.
