Escape and Manhunt – 115 Miles Between Burglary and Arrest

Date:

After a “long journey”, a suspected burglar was arrested in Tyrol. In the Zillertal, the Czech (42) is said to have broken into the home of a hotel employee and fled in a stolen vehicle. The suspect was eventually tracked down and arrested in the Reutte district.

On Wednesday evening, the initially unknown burglar gained access to the employee accommodation of a hotel in Tux. He took a high-end e-bike from the garage, loaded it into the hotel’s company car and took off. They say he stole the key beforehand.

After the break-in or theft was noticed, the police were immediately alerted. This started a search for the perpetrator; the offices in the other districts were also informed.

Pursuit in the Ausserfern
And lo and behold: the suspect could actually be located with the stolen vehicle on Wednesday. In Reutte in the Ausserfern – 172 kilometers from the scene of the break-in! “A patrol tried to stop the car, but the driver ignored all stop signs,” investigators say.

But that’s not all: the alleged perpetrator fled and “drove toward the officers, with one officer ultimately having to jump out of the way to avoid capture,” investigators continued.

Arrest at roadblock
About 12 kilometers from Reutte – in Bichlbach – was the last stop. The driver – a 42-year-old Czech – was stopped and arrested at a roadblock on the B179 Fernpassstraße at around 13:30. On the orders of the public prosecutor, he was taken to Innsbruck prison.
