The Mossos d’Esquadra have handed over to the investigating judge of the trial, Pablo Llarena, the information about the police force deployed in Barcelona on August 8.
The report delivered by the Mossos d’Esquadra to the instructor of the ‘trials’, Pablo Llarena, admits ‘errors in the plan’ to arrest the former president of the Generalitat Carlos Puigdemont and is self-critical.
The judge had asked Mossos d’Esquadra and the Ministry of the Interior to report on the police force deployed by the Mossos d’Esquadra in Barcelona on August 8, aimed at fulfilling the arrest warrant against Puigdemont, who is subject to a Supreme Court arrest warrant, and “on the elements that determined its failure from a policing aspect.”
In his report, the Home office Llarena said that in the control equipment set up by the National Police and the Guardia Civil at the border with France “Puigdemont was not detected at any time” and that, despite the fact that they offered the police the support of these agencies to deal with Puigdemont after his escape, this support was not necessary.
Carles Puigdemont appeared on August 8th in Barcelona during a welcome event organized in his honor in front of the Arc de Triomphe, an hour before the plenary session of the inauguration of Salvador Illa. After the event, instead of walking to the Parc de la Ciutadella to try to attend the plenary session of Parliament, he was seen getting into a white car and disappearing at full speed. Puigdemont crossed the border while sitting in the backseat of a “private vehicle,” according to what he himself said in an article published in Politics.
