The movement for the re-election of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen started a fundraising campaign on Thursday. Campaign leader Martin Radjaby-Rasset explained in a broadcast that the necessary financial resources are raised through “crowd campaigning”. There is no reimbursement of campaign expenses for the presidential election.
When Van der Bellen started in 2016, more than 20,000 people participated as individual donors, providing very important support, says Radjaby-Rasset. Of course, the Greens will also support their former party leader. For the time being, EUR 500,000 has been pledged. In 2016 they managed to raise 4.8 million euros.
“As an independent electoral movement with an independent candidate, the funding is also independent,” emphasizes Radjaby-Rasset. The movement is growing every day.
All donations received would be published on the homepage every 14 days, according to the association’s director, Nives Šardi. Shortly after Van der Bellen’s submission, the first individual donations of more than 8,000 euros came in.
