This is what Austria thinks: stricter immigration rules are needed

Date:

New uncertainties give Austrians much to think about. The “Krone” therefore commissioned a survey to find out what worries their compatriots the most. Migration is the top priority, but education, the cost of living and gender madness are also hot topics.

In short, the UNIQUE study was about obtaining an overview of the most current topics and their assessment. In July, a thousand voters were interviewed (range: +/- 3.1 percent).

Anyone who breaks the law should be deported
Above all, the greatest consensus was found on the migration issue: no less than 86 percent of respondents clearly agreed that anyone who does not adhere to our rules should be strictly deported.

Three out of four respondents (75 percent) also agree about the nutrition of our children: All school children need healthy, free school meals.

More protection for animals, pastures and fields
When it comes to agriculture, a majority of 68 percent want all animal transports banned. To protect the environment, 76 percent support protecting our pastures and fields instead of the landowners.

It is clear: almost nine out of ten Austrians (88 percent) want their lives to become affordable again, and 57 percent even completely agree with this pious wish for the future.

89 percent demand more money for people who need care
Also, a pleasant majority of 89 percent of the thousand respondents have a lot of social understanding and compassion: when it comes to health issues, they speak out in favor of more money for people in need of care.

Apparently, Mr. and Mrs. Austrians also want clear rules when it comes to the generation contract, i.e. pensions. After all, 69 percent of respondents agree: if you want a full pension, you have to work full-time.

And the socially controversial and in some cases heated discussion about gender and the vigilant debate (vigilance for discrimination and grievances) is answered by the majority (79 percent) as follows: “Winnetou must remain Winnetou! Stop censorship and gendering.”

The ORF monopoly also seems to be controversial. 68 percent of respondents believe that public content could also be produced by private media.

Lifetime ankle bracelets for convicted sex offenders
The sensitive issue of punishing sex offenders – i.e. child molesters or rapists – also reflects a societal consensus on the issue of ankle bracelets. A clear majority of 77 percent of respondents believe that sex offenders should be given an ankle bracelet for life (!), only five percent strongly disagree with this demand for a draconian punishment.

All in all, the research results clearly confirm “Krone’s” right path and the correct choice of topics.

This means that our journalists and columnists do not write past their large family of readers, but actually highlight their most important questions and the corresponding answers – for a clear path to the future and a wake-up call for local politics!
