A citizens’ initiative in East Tyrol still does not give up on the wind farm plans in Assling. The state of Tyrol keeps a low profile. The FPÖ, on the other hand, criticizes the ÖVP’s actions. Research shows the need for wind turbines in the country.
The fight against the large wind turbine on the 2,200-meter-high Compedal Hochalm continues. The “Citizens’ Initiative against Wind Turbines at Compedal” (BI) from Assling continues to speak out against the planned seven wind turbines at the Assling Electric Plant (EWA) – as reported by the “Krone” several times. “The Alpine landscape is a valuable asset for Tyrol and therefore worth protecting,” explains Robert Lukasser-Weitlaner, spokesman for the BI, and continues: “As far as the wind energy industry is concerned, it is not a simple yes or no, but rather a question of location, questions of economic viability and the price that the general public has to pay.”
