Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg has been in hospital since Saturday with pneumonia, his office announced on Monday. All appointments and trips scheduled for this week have therefore been canceled or postponed.
“He is doing well and would like to thank the treating physicians and nursing staff for their excellent care,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The minister was due to appear at the European Forum in Alpbach on Monday and Tuesday and should have consulted with his colleagues from countries such as Croatia and Romania.
Participation in the informal EU Council of Foreign Ministers in Brussels and the GLOBSEC Forum in Prague were scheduled for Thursday and the weekend.
