As EITB has learned, the Professor of Pharmacology at UPV/EHU will be the person responsible for gathering contributions and information from all parties to reach an agreement on the health care system in the BAC.
The Basque government has chosen Javier MeanaProfessor of Pharmacology at UPV/EHU, to coordinate the work within the Health Pact. The first meeting will take place next Thursday, September 5, at the Bizkaia Aretoa of the University of Bilbao.
According to sources at the Executive, the position is for a professional, non-political profile who will perform “selfless work” coordinate contributions and information which are carried out within the pact on the Basque health care system, promoted by the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales.
Javier Meana holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery (1983) with distinction and a Doctorate in Medicine (1990) with extraordinary distinction. He is a professor (1992-2001) and professor of pharmacology and teaches in medical school and in various postgraduate courses at public universities.
During the first meeting, the Minister of Health, Alberto Martínez, will present a specific calendar and methodology, as well as the first documents to be worked on. The aim of the College is to reach an agreement within a period of six months.
