The new deputy of the Treasury of Gipuzkoa, Itziar Agirre, has shown during the ceremony of the imposition of the scallop shell her willingness to follow in the footsteps of her predecessor Jokin Perona and has encouraged the political groups of the General Assemblies to continue their progress on “the path of dialogue” for tax reform.

The general vicar of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza, was in charge of presenting the veneration to Itziar Agirre, in an act in which she had words of remembrance for Jokin Perona. Mendoza assured that Perona’s “delivery, vision and positive character” will be a “personal” and “professional” example for those who are part of the regional government.

The Deputy General also wanted to commend the work of all those who work in the Ministry of Finance “as it is a fundamental service for the economic and social development” of the area and for the well-being of the people.

For his part, Itziar Agirre believes that Jokin Perona worked from the perspective of taxation to develop measures aimed at “supporting economic activity and social cohesion, always with an eye to current challenges and to solutions that would be useful in the long term”.

In the same way, he highlighted tax reform as one of the challenges facing the legislature, an issue in which he hopes to continue to make progress “on the path of dialogue and goodwill” shown by all the joint groups to respond to the eleven socio-economic challenges. economic aspects identified in the presentation.

Agirre joins the Guipuzcoan Ministry of Finance from the Basque Government’s Deputy Ministry of Finance, a position she has held since 2017. Previously, she was director of the tax administration of the Basque Ministry of Economy and Finance.
