The Abertzale union has not yet confirmed whether or not it will attend the meeting. It will do so tomorrow via a statement.
He Basque government announced on Tuesday that it expects the health pact to be fully operational in March 2025 and called on all officers involved to participate in the agreements made, especially the ELA union.
This was stated by the spokesman of the Basque government, Maria Ubarretxenaduring the press conference after the Government Council, following the first meeting convened by the Basque Government on Thursday as a starting signal to implement this pact to improve the public health system.
ELA has not yet confirmed whether it will attend the meeting in which, in addition to the Gasteiz Executive, representatives of political parties, unions, universities and organizations related to health will participate. Ubarretxena has said that he hopes that ELA will attend “due to the importance of this case for which the cooperation and contribution from everyone.”
He explained that the methodology to achieve this pact will be three phases. In the first case, a shared diagnosis of the system will be drawn up, which is expected to be concluded in October next year. In the second phase, the principles that will govern the health care system will be established, and in the third, the strategic lines for the future will be defined.
Thursday’s meeting will be chaired by the Basque Government’s health adviser, Alberto Martínez, although the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, will also take part in that first meeting.
