The spokesman for EH Bildu believes that there are “territorial interests” in the way of defending the different options for the connection with Navarra. As for his party’s parliamentary control over the government, he understands that “it is normal for parliamentary activities to take place”.
The spokesperson for EH Bildu in the Basque Parliament, Otxandiano hair, has qualified as public debate about ‘political absurdity’ that leaders of Basque institutions have made today about the possible connection of the high-speed train with NavarraIn his words, these issues could be “grounds for accountability and dismissal.”
In an interview on the program “Boulevard” on Radio Euskadi, Otxandiano expressed his doubts about the impulse of political leaders, “who are from the same party”, to defend one or the other connection, but he believes that “territorial interests come into play”, and that “there is no vision of how to articulate the country and organize demographic flows.”
When asked whether he would choose Ezkio-Itsaso or Vitoria-Gasteiz, the spokesperson for EH Bildu made it clear that his party has already submitted a proposal another alternative: “a powerful train that connects Vitoria-Gasteiz with Iruña and Burgos, using the current track gauge and serving for the transport of goods and as a commuter train.”
On the other hand, the leader of EH Bildu did not want to comment on the evaluation of ELA’s decision not to go to the table about health care system which will take place on Thursday, but he made it clear that EH Bildu never had any doubts about his presence: “To revive Osakidetza, many public policies have to change. It did not occur to us not to be there.”
However, he does not believe that his presence at this table will discuss long-term issues is not incompatible with asking for urgent changes “in the emergency OSI for example”, through parliamentary debate. “Go inside the It is normal for the opposition to engage in parliamentary activities‘, he responded when asked about the request for the Minister of Health to appear and the battery of questions that EH Bildu has registered in the Basque Parliament.
“It is our responsibility to form a responsible opposition,” he said, and believes that this entails debate in parliament. “There has been a seven-month paralysis of parliament and the country needs to move,” he said.
Otxandiano assures EH Bildu “has not broken the non-aggression pact” and appeals to “responsibility in language and semantics”which states that “classifying parliamentary activities as aggression” is a hyperbole with important political connotations.
The opposition leader also said that he has sent Lehendakari Pradales their contributions to the Ethics Pact documentin which he missed the ‘definition of the causes’ that would lead to a situation of tension and polarisation, as well as the way to ‘propose solutions together with civil society’. In this sense, it aims to initiate a deliberative process on issues such as the energy transition.
