The chairman of the EBB of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzarhas indicated that contacts will be established with political formations between late September and early October regarding the future political status.
In an interview for the program “Boulevard” on Radio Euskadi, Ortuzar recalled that a bilateral commission is planned between the Government of Spain and the Basque Government to establish the calendar for the transfer of pending legal powers, and also a meeting between Pedro Sánchez and Lehendakari Imanol Pradales. For this reason, Ortuzar is waiting for “news” to see “how good” the situation is Statute of Gernikawith all the upcoming matches, including ‘the difficult ones’.
In that sense, Ortuzar believes that “when we have more or less clarity about what the end of the current status will look like, I think it is time to start talking about what the new status should look like.”
Ortuzar believes that the conditions for this are there, and he is confident that the political alliances that allow Pedro Sánchez to govern in Madrid will be transferred to Euskadi.
According to him, there would be broad consensus on 95% of its content, and among the “discrepancies” he has mentioned, among others, the national recognition of Euskadi, bilateral relations with the state, the protection of powers and who will have the capacity to decide on the political and legal status, he has mentioned.
On the other hand, Ortuzar has not anticipated his future after the trial internal renewal of the PNV. “First the project, then the organization and finally the people,” he added. As he said, in addition to adapting its communication, the party must focus on “restoring lost trust.” “PNV must undergo an ‘aggiornamento’, a new communication.”
Finally, the question was asked about the High-speed trainOrtuzar has indicated that it should be the technical reports that determine what is the best option for the connection with Navarra.
