Companies that suffered damage due to the flood disaster now have easier access to reduced working hours.
In the case of natural disasters such as floods, an agreement between the social partners is not necessary, said Economics Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP) on Wednesday afternoon. A company agreement is sufficient to benefit from short-time working. According to the ministry, it is currently not possible to estimate how many companies could benefit from the aid.
The application can be submitted to the employment service up to three weeks retroactively from the start of the short-time working scheme. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, affected companies should contact one of the regional AMS offices soon. “With short-time working, we enable companies that are affected by a permanent closure to temporarily register their employees for short-time working,” says Kocher.
According to the Chamber of Labor, a gross replacement rate of 88 percent is used to calculate the support for short-time working for employees, which on average leads to a net replacement rate of 90 percent. Working hours must be reduced by at least ten percent to a maximum of 90 percent.
