The Supreme Court judge has no power to investigate what happened, so he has urged the Catalan courts to analyse the facts, considering the possibility that several crimes have been committed.

Supreme Court Judge Pablo Llarena has sent the police reports relating to the entry into Catalonia and subsequent escape of former President Carles Puigdemont last August to the Barcelona courts without being arrested, before the possibility of various crimes being committed.

Nor does he see that it was “impossible to effectively address his subsequent surveillance and overreach, to the point where his escape from national territory became a reality.”
