In addition to the five parties already represented in the city hall, the small parties and lists are now positioning themselves for the early elections in Vienna on April 27. A first overview.
While the city council meeting is voting today on the dissolution of the council and thus on new elections on April 27, 2025, the small parties that want to reach city hall are slowly positioning themselves.
Strache wants to become mayor of the hearts
There is a new sign of life from former Vice Chancellor Heinz Christian Strache. With his HC team he wants to know again and become “mayor of the hearts”. His goal: 10 percent of the votes. With only 3.27 percent, he clearly failed to cross the 5 percent hurdle in the 2020 Vienna elections.
The final decision for Dominik Wlazny’s beer festival has not yet been made. In 2020, the former satirical project achieved only 1.8 percent and has since been represented in 11 district councils.
The political platform SÖZ also wants to participate in the early elections. Four years ago, SÖZ achieved 1.2 percent and seven district mandates. What remains especially memorable are the calls for Ramadan decorations in Favoriten or a swimming day especially for women.
The KPÖ also wants to stand for election. In the EU elections the communists obtained 4.7 percent, in the NR elections this was 3.8 percent. There is talk of possible cooperation with the Left Party. Exact details are still pending. The two parties are represented in the district parliaments with a total of 23 district councilors.
50 expressions of support are required for each individual district council election. Another 100 expressions of support are needed for each of the 18 constituencies in the GR/LT elections. There are no fewer than 2,950 in total. However, it is also possible to only stand for election in certain districts or constituencies. By the way, only the Neos have managed to move to the town hall as a new list for 25 years
