Nuclear saber rattling – nuclear doctrine: Kremlin sees NATO as guilty

Date:

Nuclear power Russia has defended changes to its doctrine on the use of nuclear weapons against criticism. The new foundations of nuclear deterrence are based on NATO expansion.

The expansions are necessary because NATO’s infrastructure is moving closer to Russia’s borders and the Western powers want to achieve a victory over Moscow with their arms supplies to Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian state television on Sunday.

The decision on the need to use nuclear weapons will be made by the military, he added. The Kremlin spokesman was asked who decides whether nuclear weapons will be used in light of Ukraine’s drone and missile attacks on Russia.

The troublemakers are calling for escalation
Russian propagandists repeatedly call in state media for such a nuclear attack on Ukraine in order to quickly defeat the country. “This is more the prerogative of our specialists, our army. “They keep a close eye on what weapons are used and how they are used,” Peskov explains. Russia accuses the US, Germany and other countries of already being closely involved in the war through their arms supplies.

Ukraine, which has been resisting Moscow’s war of aggression for more than two and a half years, has accused Russia of “nuclear blackmail” in light of the changes in nuclear doctrine. The country attacked by Moscow appealed to the West not to be intimidated and finally release long-range weapons to attack targets in Russia.

Putin’s manslaughter argument
President Vladimir Putin had previously outlined new possible scenarios for Russia’s use of nuclear weapons, which could now be used to counter massive attacks with conventional weapons if it threatens Russia’s survival.

At a meeting of the Moscow Security Council on nuclear deterrence, Putin said that Russia could also use nuclear weapons in the event of a massive attack from the air, that is, with cruise missiles, aircraft, rockets or drones.
