Innsbruck City Council – “The threshold of what is permissible has long been exceeded”

Date:

With the new city council, it was relatively quiet in the Innsbruck city council for a long time. But there is a so-called ‘sequel’ from the last city council meeting. The Public Prosecution Service is busy. Not only in the issue of ‘Amra construction ban’, but now also because of suspicion of ‘sedition’.

Innsbruck’s last city council member, more specifically GR Fabian Walch (FPÖ), is still causing a stir.

Walch used the term “population exchange” in connection with the new housing allocation guidelines. Vice-President Elli Mayr (SPÖ) replied: “Mr Walch, I would like to point out that the term ‘population exchange’ is actually a very problematic term and that we want to use the language respectfully when we talk about population. population living in Innsbruck speaks.”

But Walch would not hear of it and replied that he would choose his words very carefully.

Video circulating online
But the choice of words did not go unanswered, because a music video is now circulating on social media, such as on the Instagram channel ‘Tiroler Krawallmusik’, in which Walch is allegedly ridiculed: ‘There is no room for fascists here. change your mind, but please do it yourself and make room for good people. “Fabian Walch is a bit of a jerk and babbles stupid sentences,” it says.

Excitement about current “Innsbruck informs”
Another point is causing a stir: Walch writes in the current “Innsbruck informs”: “Anyone who does not know German has no place in our schools and anyone who does not want to learn it must fly home!” Some city council members do! outraged by this statement. However, they also raised the fact that the FPÖ in particular does not vote in applications to support language courses.

StR Janine Bex (Greens): “This arrogance, this arrogance! You are denying children the opportunity to learn this language. You with your voice. This is a slap in the face for all organizations that fight every day for better integration. This also shows that you have no interest in integrating people into our society, but rather in promoting division and unrest!”

Criticism also from Liste Fritz
GR Andrea Haselwanter-Schneider (Liste Fritz) agrees: “I was on the education committee and when I saw these offers (to learn the language before going to school), I thought to myself that they made a lot of sense. The FPÖ colleague reads the headline and immediately says that the FPÖ is voting against. You don’t like it when we take integration measures, and you don’t like it when we do nothing either. Your solutions are incompatible with national and international law.”

When asked by the “Krone”, Walch stands by his voting record: “As long as there is no master plan for the city to curb the unbridled migration of peoples, we see no need to invest in integration measures, as it is a bottomless issue. pit.”

Public Prosecution Service involved
The thing hasn’t been eaten yet. GR Mesut Onay (Ali) addressed Walch: “In the municipal council you vote against German courses, women’s promotion and integration measures, but consistently in favor of speculative housing construction.” He also refers to “Innsbruck informs” and says: “The threshold of what is bearable has long been crossed.

On suspicion of incitement, Ali has now handed over a statement of facts to the Public Prosecution Service, which is directed against Walch. “The specific accusation is of deliberate and widely publicized violation of human dignity and degradation of children whose mother tongue is not German,” the report says.

KPÖ criticizes Telfer Vice-BM
In the meantime, the KPÖ submits the facts about the building blockade in Amras to the Public Prosecution Service. The responsible lawyer is Telf deputy mayor Johannes Augustin (Neos): “Johannes Augustin wrote the threatening letter against the members of the municipal council on behalf of the law firm AWZ. As deputy mayor of Telfs, he should have more respect for democracy. Such behavior is extremely problematic,” says club president Pia Tomedi (KPÖ).
