A ten-year-old girl from Bad Ischl walked past the neighboring house with her little chihuahua dog “Tiffany”. Suddenly, a Czech wolfhound jumped out, jumped on “Tiffany” and tore her to pieces. The girl who tried to save her dog was also bitten and had to be treated in hospital.
There were dramatic scenes that took place in Bad Ischl a week ago and became public on Wednesday. “Our daughter came home covered in blood and in shock,” says the girl’s mother.
The ten-year-old was walking on the street around 4:20 p.m. with her chihuahua dog “Tiffany” and a friend who also had a dog with her. As they both passed neighbors’ houses, their Czech wolfhound suddenly burst out of the unfenced property and pounced on the Chihuahua.
While the other girl fled with her dog, the ten-year-old tried to protect her “Tiffany”, unfortunately without success. The powerful wolfhound bit several times. The chihuahua, which weighs just 3.5 kilos, suffered fatal injuries. The student tried to defend herself with all her might, but was bitten on her left ring finger and bled profusely.
Owners beat wolf dog
The wolfdog’s owners came to the ten-year-old’s aid and had to use force. “It wasn’t until they hit the dog that it let go,” the mother said.
“Tiffany” was immediately taken to a vet, who unfortunately only diagnosed her as dead. The mother took her bloodied daughter to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
“After the incident we were contacted by the girl’s mother who was completely distraught. “Tiffany” arose from an official seizure of 55 dogs and cats from a breeder in Gilgenberg in February 2023, all of which were housed with us at the Pfotenhilfehof,” says Jürgen Stadler from Pfotenhilfe Lochen.
Tied to umbrella stand
Photos and videos have been sent to animal control that allegedly show a neighbor’s dog being kept illegally tethered in the unfenced yard – to a half-foot umbrella stand that could easily fall over. “This situation has not changed even after the terrible incident, because the photos are from the day after the incident,” said Stadler.
The girl’s family has reported the injuries to the police. As the owner of the Chihuahua, Pfotenhilfe will also file a complaint for animal cruelty. “Such a terrible attitude – the dog is repeatedly locked on the balcony – unloving, lonely, without activity or movement leads to great frustration and associated actions. Unfortunately, he is also a victim of the people.”
