Date:

Now it is almost certain who will vote in the state elections in Styria on November 24. SPÖ, ÖVP, FPÖ, Greens, KPÖ and Neos are active throughout the state, in Graz and the surrounding area there are also KFG, MFG and DNA.

Now it is almost certain: nine parties will probably be on the ballot in the state elections. SPÖ, ÖVP, FPÖ, Greens, KPÖ, Neos as well as the KFG, MFG and DNA, the last three only in constituency 1 Graz and surroundings. They submitted their district election proposals to the authorities before 1 p.m. on Friday. The documents are still being checked.

Only three parties in Graz and the surrounding area
Now it is important to see whether the expressions of support from the lists Corruption-free Graz (KFG), People, Freedom, Fundamental Rights (MFG) and Democratic – Neutral – Authentic (DNA) – 200 per constituency were required – are all valid. The authorities also check, among other things, whether all named candidates are entitled to vote. A candidate must be at least 18 years old on election day. This should all be completed next Thursday, October 24 – a month before the elections. The ballots can then be printed.

In any case, the ranking on the ballot paper will not be a cause for discussion: the parties are in the first six places according to the results of the 2019 elections: ÖVP before SPÖ, FPÖ, Greens, KPÖ and Neos. Seventh place in constituency 1 goes to the KFG, eighth to the MFG with top candidate Andrea Kamper and ninth to the DNA with frontwoman Maria Hubmer-Mogg. They were ranked based on the date of submission. Only the first six parties can be found in the other three constituencies.

Request your ballot before November 20
The deadline for filing the state election bill ends on November 14 at 1 p.m. On Wednesday, November 20, you have the last chance to request a voting card in writing.

By the way, there was the least choice in a state election in 1981: at the time there were only four parties on the ballot paper. In some voting rounds there were already nine lists to choose from. The 48 mandates of the state parliament are awarded not only in the four constituencies, but also at state level. To participate in this second survey, parties must submit proposals for state elections.
