Former mayor Gorka Urtaran has received the support of some assemblies in other cities and it will be up to him to decide whether or not to move on to the second phase as chairman of the ABB.
This Thursday, the PNV started the first vote in its municipal meetings to elect the new members of the territorial bodies.
For example, in Álava, the Regional Representative for Equality, Basque Country and Governance, Jon Berriozabalhas won with solvency in the four municipal assemblies of the PNV in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the most numerous in the area, so he is guaranteed to go to the second round in the internal process to chair the Araba Buru Batzar (ABB).
As EITB has learned, members have also proposed the former mayor as an alternative candidate. Gorka Urtaran in these four assemblies, although he has received less support than Berriozabal. Of course, Urtaran is supported by at least two assemblies in other municipalities, so it is up to him to decide whether or not to go to the second phase.
In this sense, it is worth remembering that José Antonio Suso, the current president of the ABB, announced that he would not choose to continue in this position even if he had the support of the members.
