Former Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl has a wild theory about why Hitler was Austrian. In a short video she insulted her original homeland – and thus sparked a discussion on social networks…
Kneissl says on the internet that she already understood ‘Hitler’s true home’ in 2020. “It was no coincidence why Hitler came from Austria and why the top of the Western Gestapo came from Austria. It is a mixture of pettiness, envy and inferiority complexes (…),” said the former foreign minister (on an FPÖ ticket), who now lives in Russia and is criticized for her relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Critic: Putin is today’s Hitler
This relationship was also reflected in the initial reactions to the video on the X platform. ‘Who is she seeing now? With Hitler of the 21st century,” someone commented, for example. “Says the lady-in-waiting of the fascist in the Kremlin,” it says elsewhere.

“I would have reminded Mrs Kneissl that she is also from Austria,” it is suggested. This is how she describes herself; others think we should be ashamed that she ever held a high government position.
Supporter: “Inferior being”
The current lobbyist and author also has supporters of the controversial video. “The ordinary Austrian has quite a humble character,” and “Every day we experience the narrow-mindedness of the left-wing society of envy and biters,” was the response.
In recent years, Kneissl has repeatedly caused discussions with her statements. She “lost her home forever”, and there is no democracy in Europe and there are ongoing human rights violations. She sees herself as a ‘political refugee’.
The 59-year-old spreads pro-Russian war propaganda on her Telegram channel. She is, among other things, chairman of the state-affiliated Russian think tank Gorky and writes for the state broadcaster RT.
