Republicans likely have a U.S. majority in both chambers

Date:

Newly-elected US President Donald Trump’s Republican Party will likely control both chambers of Congress. This was predicted on Monday by the election analysis portal Decision Desk HQ. The majorities give Trump extensive opportunities to push his political agenda.

According to the forecast, Republicans have at least 218 seats (out of 435) in the House of Representatives, with eight votes still pending. According to Edison Research, the party has already achieved a majority of at least 52 to 46 seats in the Senate.

The remaining Senate seat for the American state of Arizona has now gone to Democratic candidate Ruben Callego. He is a liberal candidate for Arizona.

Moreover, Trump’s position is strengthened by a 6:3 majority in the Supreme Court. He appointed three judges.

No success for Biden
Extensive tax cuts were implemented during Trump’s first term (2017 to 2021). These expire next year and can now be extended. However, Democratic President Joe Biden has had little legislative success during the past two years of divided governance. Congress even had difficulty securing funding for government operations.
