Former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz largely stays out of daily politics in Austria. Now he has made an election recommendation for Sunday’s state elections in Styria – and not for top candidate Christopher Drexler.
“I have known Lukas Schnitzer for a long time, as you can easily see from these photos of our time together in the JVP” – in a post on Facebook on Friday, Sebastian Kurz recalled the time when he was neither foreign minister nor federal Chancellor. The friendship with the former chairman of the Young People’s Party of Styria, Lukas Schnitzer, dates from this time.
Schnitzer is a member of the Styrian state parliament and the district’s top candidate for Hartberg-Fürstenfeld.
“Strong foundation of values”
With his post on Facebook, where almost 940,000 people follow him, Kurz promotes a preferential vote for Schnitzer. “A consistent fight against illegal migration and the right measures for a strong business location in Styria” is Schnitzer’s “foundation of values,” writes Kurz.
Schnitzer thanked his prominent supporter with a “repost”: “Thank you, dear Sebastian Kurz!” he also wrote on Facebook.
