Terror on the Internet – money for cybercrime: this is how hackers lure citizens

Date:

‘NoName’, the unnamed hackers, are currently terrorizing Austrian authorities and companies almost every day. They even offer private individuals money so that they too can commit a crime!

And the marmot greets you every day. Governments and companies in Austria must currently have the same feeling as the Christmas film classic. A certain process repeats itself day after day on a channel of the Russian messaging service Telegram.

Also attacks on the Ukrainian network
The Russian – or Russia-friendly – hacker group ‘NoName’ publishes possible targets in various countries every day (see photo below). Ukraine is involved because its infrastructure will be destroyed not only by bombs, but also by attacks on the network. In addition to the Czech Republic, Spain and Sweden are also targeted.

More and more often, for example before the elections for the National Council or last Monday and Wednesday, the addresses of domestic authorities and companies whose systems will be paralyzed are mentioned. In addition to the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of Finance, ÖBB, Wiener Linien, the Vienna Stock Exchange, Energie Steiermark, the state of Tyrol, the city of Horn (Lower Austria) and the Austrian Press Agency also found their way to the list of attackers.

Cryptocurrency as a “reward”
“Krone” cyber expert Dr. knows how their concept works. Cornelius Granig: “Proponents of the cause, also from Austria, can download software. This will make you a member of the criminal group on your mobile phone or computer. In the event of an attack, a command is sent from a central server to all affected devices – the targets are digitally attacked thousands of times.” Granig warns potential participants who collect cryptocurrency as a “reward”. These are serious crimes.
