During the night, Ukraine fired seven missiles into the Kursk region; the projectiles were intercepted by Russian air defense systems. In addition, seven Ukrainian drones were destroyed, the governor of the region bordering Ukraine said.
Pro-Russian military analyst Roman Alyokhin, advisor to the governor, speaks on his Telegram channel of a “massive attack with foreign-made missiles on Kursk.”
British mercenary arrested by Russians
Russian forces have also arrested a British citizen in the Kursk region, according to Russian news agency RIA. The service reports this, with reference to security circles. A video circulated on unofficial pro-Russian Telegram channels shows a young bearded man in military gear introducing himself in English as James Scott Rhys Anderson and saying he previously served in the British army.
The authenticity of the video, the date of recording and the information provided by RIA could not immediately be independently verified. Britain’s Foreign Office has said it is supporting the family of a British citizen following reports of his arrest, according to the BBC.
