Obstacle of digitalization – head of the seniors’ association: “Our protest was successful”

Date:

Ingrid Korosec in action against digital discrimination. Many elderly people have difficulty keeping up with the rapid developments.

Digitization is progressing rapidly. Too fast for many elderly people. Certain actions can no longer be performed analogously. This was, for example, the case with a bonus from social insurance for the self-employed (SVS) as part of the ‘Laugh together’ campaign.

As motivation to pay attention to your dental health, since the beginning of this year there has been a financial compensation for everyone who takes preventive measures. Anyone who is entitled to dental care in 2024 will receive a one-off, tax-free 100 euros.

Registration was only possible digitally
However, there was initially a barrier: you could only register for the health campaign digitally. At the expense of people who are not technically equipped for this or do not have the correct digital knowledge. So especially seniors.

The president of the Austrian Seniors’ Association, Ingrid Korosec, has campaigned to change this. With success. “Our protest against digital discrimination was successful. I have managed to make it possible to register for the bonus in the same way.” This has been possible since September 9. If you still want to use it, you have to be quick. The offer ends at the end of the year.
