A 34-year-old and an eight-year-old girl were injured by gunfire in London on Sunday evening. The shooter managed to escape – the police have started a manhunt. Both victims are said to have suffered serious injuries.
The mother had to witness the terrible incident, Metro reports. Neighbors initially suspected the shots were fireworks because the crime scene was near an elementary school. “I heard shots and then a woman screamed, ‘My baby, my baby has been shot.’” said a witness, describing the dramatic scene.
Witness believes it was a targeted attack
After the tragedy, a witness who asked to remain anonymous suspected that the girl was “caught in the crossfire” while she was in the car. One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, explained: “She was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.” However, another witness claims to have seen the gunman attack the car. “He shot directly, from close range, as if you were standing in front of a door and trying to open it. They shot straight into it.” The police have not yet provided any information.

Authorities said the girl’s injuries were fortunately not life-threatening and she was in stable condition. According to investigators, a 32-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital as a precaution, but was not injured.
The police are calling on witnesses to come forward: “Your information is important, no matter how unimportant it may seem to you.”
