In the current political duel, there was a heated discussion between Eva Glawischnig and Andreas Mölzer about the likely political issues in 2025. For example, about the municipal elections in Vienna, which could also bring new political conditions to the capital.
In the beginning, however, the focus of the match was on the upcoming elections in Burgenland on January 19. Mölzer predicts: “Doskozil will still remain the strongest. But it won’t be enough for an absolute. And then the question is: who with whom. It will be the blue-black variant against Doskozil. Or Doskozil with a partner. And probably even more so with the Freedom Party.” Glawischnig adds: “Norbert Hofer is definitely a very strongly anchored FPÖ candidate in Burgenland, who comes from there and understands and speaks the language of the people well. And he also openly announced that something completely different could come out of it. Even if Doskozil becomes the strongest vote, black-blue is possible. So a counter-majority against the Social Democratic governor.” The role of Hans Peter Doskozil is viewed critically by the former Green frontwoman. Glawischnig: “I think he has made an important contribution to the fact that the SPÖ is in crisis. Because he kept spewing poison and bile. Actually for no reason. And actually last lesson. He put down Pamela Rendi-Wagner. And he shot Babler.”
Glawischnig does not see the prospects of the Greens in the upcoming elections in Burgenland as rosy: “Well, they will probably be expelled from the state parliament. So that’s basically what I suppose.” However, she cannot really answer why the situation for the Greens in Burgenland and in general throughout Austria is so bad: “I am not the strategist in the party. I mean, Werner Kogler is basically gone. He has announced his retirement. You don’t know what the successor will be. There is no new face. So there is not really much traction at the moment.” From the perspective of the Greens, the prospects for the coming elections are certainly not promising: “These are all predictable defeats.” Mölzer laconically: “The Greens are no longer interesting in terms of domestic policy .”
There was also a heated discussion about the possible outcome of the elections in Vienna. Glawischnig: “The fall of the ÖVP is remarkable. They halve.” Mölzer adds: “In reality the party seems to be dissolving.”
