The FPÖ took its time to agree to the change at the top of the country: party leader Marlene Svazek announced in sharp words on Monday that the Blues had agreed with reservations and therefore did not want new elections. Shortly afterwards, Head of State Wilfried Haslauer commented on this.
Marlene Svazek’s statement was distant and even skeptical. She does not yet have a sufficient idea of Karoline Edtstadler’s content for her work in Salzburg. And emotionally, the decision would have been a rejection, Svazek says. After long discussions, the FPÖ agreed.
In the afternoon, State Governor Wilfried Haslauer also commented. “I am glad that reason has prevailed and that Salzburg will not be forced into new elections.” But he is confident that the prejudices will make way for a realistic assessment.
Consultations will first take place about the division of departments.
