Vitoria draws its budgets with the support of EH Bildu

There have been no surprises and the Sovereign Coalition councilors have joined their votes with those of PNV and PSE-EE to implement the budgets for the second consecutive year.

The municipal government of Vitoria has managed to approve its budgets for this year thanks to the support of EH Bildu, a party with which PSE-EE and PNV, in a minority in the municipal council, They have agreed the accounts for the second year in a row.

In the plenary meeting of the city council held today, there have been no surprises and the councilors of the Abertzale Coalition have joined their voices to those of nationalists and socialists to implement some budgets to which the other two opposition groups, PP and Elkarrinin.

The accounts, equipped with 475.6 million euros, contain 23 amendments between PSE-EE, PNV and EH BILDU with items worth 7.7 million euros. They are also considering commitment credits for 8 million to develop in 2026 and 2027.

Among the concrete projects that will be promoted with the agreed games, which are related to the Construction of community housing for seniors; to financing a new source of housing urgency; to the new one Housing for young people; to commercial dynamization; to energy communities and electrify vehicles such as taxis, among others.

Treasury councilor Jon Armentia has defended the budget being balanced, assuring that “it will provide stability and allow Vitoria to continue.” He emphasized that with the agreement with EH Bildu, areas such as social and housing are strengthened and the PP and Elkarrin have been addressed to transfer them that “agrees, for the common good.”

In this sense, EH Bildu spokesperson, Rocío Vitero, emphasized that the budgets have improved with their changes through what has described as “good agreement” with which “who wins is citizenship” and emphasized that the “only preferred partner will be the citizenship of Vitoria.”

From the PNV, the first deputy mayor, Beatriz Artolazabal, has defended the bills as ‘realistic, balanced and responsible’. He has denied that EH Bildu has become a preferential partner of the municipal government and has said its affirmative vote “speaks of commitment, loyalty and responsibility” and is a “recognition that resources are well focused”.

The popular Iñaki García Calvo has thought that EH Bildu is the government’s priority partner, saying that “has imported the model of Pedro Sánchez in Vitoria.” He has chosen Bildu,” said Garcia Calvo, criticizing that the budget contains only “cosmetic measures.” “

Finally, Elkarrin spokeswoman Garbiñe Ruiz said the agreement lacks “boldness” and contains “patches” that do not solve the problems. “If in the future they want to stop making apaños, we will be there again to agree on improvements,” he offered to the municipal government.
