Corona Urprung – Beijing annoyed by the CIA’s new assessment

Date:

Minds differ on the question of the origins of the coronavirus. While some experts are convinced the pathogen was artificially created, the World Health Organization and other scientists are confident that natural transmission through animals is the pandemic trigger. In a new assessment of the existing data material, the US secret service CIA now comes to assess that there was a “certain probability” of a laboratory breakdown in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

The coronavirus first appeared in the city of Wuhan in 2019. From there, the plague spread across the world. Corona pandemic alone killed 1.1 million people in the United States. The new CIA review took place just days after Donald Trump took office in the White House. With John Ratcliffe as the new CIA director, he appointed a man who represents the laboratory theory and accuses Beijing of hiding the origins of the virus.

On Friday, an interview from the right-wing portal “Breitbart” was published, in which Ratcliffe said that his main project at the beginning of his term was a reassessment of the origins of Corona Pandemic. So far the CIA had not committed itself to any theory.

Beijing throws Washington “slander” of China
China was quite irritated by the statements of the new CIA chief. The theory of a laboratory accident is “extremely unlikely,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said in Beijing on Monday. This finding is based on a joint study by Chinese experts and experts from the World Health Organization (WHO), who also had “the affected laboratories in Wuhan”. The US government must stop “slandering and blaming other countries,” Mao stressed. In addition to the WHO, several other US federal authorities also reject the laboratory theory.
