Five days before the federal elections in Germany, the right alternative to Germany is confronted with a donation affair. In particular, it is about the campaign of several millions of dollars through a former Vorarlberg FPö official.
According to research by the German news magazine “Der Spiegel” and the “Standard”, there is suspicion that Gerhard Dingler only acted as a straw man for the Million -Dollar transaction. According to the investigation of the Austrian security authorities, the businessman would have received a “gift” before his assumed donation to the right -wing popular “alternative to Germany” – of the real estate billionaire Henning Conle of Duisburg. According to this, Dingler would have submitted a contract from his bank a few weeks ago, according to which he had received 2.6 million euros from Conle.
Donor spoke with the bank of the real estate project
When asked by the bank, for which the money is used, Dingler would only have spoken about a real estate project. But shortly thereafter, 2,349,906 euros from his account went to an advertising company in Poster in Cologne. The AfD reported the same sum of the Bondstag administration at the beginning of February.
The German Federal Criminal Police Office and the State Protection and Intelligence Directorate (DSN) have intervened in the case. The authorities pursue, among other things, the suspicion of money laundering. According to the German Party Act, such a straw man -donations are prohibited, in which the identity of the actual donor is disguised.
AfD had to pay a fine in 2020
If the suspicion is confirmed, the AfD threatens a penalty feed as a result of illegal party financing in a triple amount of the inadmissible donation. In this case that would be around seven million euros. Already in 2020 the party was desperately by the top candidate Alice Weidel because of a hidden donation conles to pay a fine of 400,000 euros.
A spokesperson for Meads announced on Tuesday evening that the party and the federal administration so far had no evidence that Dingler was just a straw man.
