After long discussions, the SPD, the Union and Greens have agreed a billion dollar defense and infrastructure package for Germany. 100 billion euros must flow into climate protection and a climate -friendly conversion of the economy.
Initially, the Union and SPD offered a volume of 50 billion euros on Thursday. Then the greens insisted that climate protection investments also had to flow. It is also planned to relax the debt brake for considerably higher defense expenditure and for a debt access from the federal states. A special fund of 500 billion euros for infrastructure must be set up from new debts.
The basic law must be amended for the financial package, but the Union and SPD of the Government Parties depend on the voices of the Greens. The Bundestag could decide on the package next Thursday, after which a majority with two -thirds of the votes is still needed in the Federal Council.
