US President Donald Trump uses saying goodbye to Pope Francis for his first trip abroad. On Friday shortly before midnight he landed in Rome – a clear announcement of Russia and Ukraine in his luggage. Even their highest representatives meet in the Italian capital.
Shortly before midnight, Air Force One put on Leonardo da Vinci Airport. Flashing, US President Donald Trump, accompanied by his wife Melania, stood out, shook some hands from the Italian reception committee and drove away in a black limousine.
With his landing he announced on his platform, Truth Social, also clearly known the political goal of his journey: an important step in the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. “They are about to reach an agreement, and both parties must now meet at the highest level to end the matter. There is agreement on the most important points. Now stop bloodshed.”

Shortly before his flight, the US president also stated that he also used his stay in Rome for discussions with “many foreign heads of state” who were interested in closer relationships with the United States. It is Trump’s first trip abroad since his return to the White House in January.
