Farmers against Bobos? In the federal capital, elections are still obtained to the left of the middle. ÖVP and FPö continue to fight in urban areas with the topics – and accordingly poor results.
In Austria you only win elections to the right of the middle, is a statement that political experts and opinion researchers like to strive for elections.
With a view to the election result, the “small” Gallic Vienna remains the exception that the rule confirms. Because while FPö and ÖVP came together to 55 percent in the elections of the National Council, the Spö and the Greens also reached 54 percent on the left side of the middle in the federal capital.
City-country numbers and debates about foreigners
In the best case, the supposed tricum is that the FPö cuts particularly strongly where the share of foreigners is particularly high at best half correct. A glance at the exact election result in the 15th district of Vienna, for example, shows that Spö and Greens are even better there and the liberties with the ÖVP are doing even worse than in the Vienna -Wide average. And that while voters outside the federal capital do their Kreuzerl at the FPö in the elections of the National Council because the share of foreigners in Vienna is so high.
“Urban voters generally simply tick very differently than the many voters in the country,” says political expert and opinion researcher Christoph Haselmayer. Voters about the country are topics such as driving and living in real estate, but voters in the city are more important in the city.
ÖVP only rules in a state capital
The content of the ÖVP and the FPö would be much better in the country than in the city. And this is reflected in the results. The People’s Party, who recently dominated many elections at the federal level, continues to weaken in urban rooms. With Thomas Steiner, who keeps the ÖVP flags in Eisenstadt, the People’s Party even has only one mayor in the nine capitals of the state. The largest of the city governed by ÖVP is Wiener Neustadt-the second largest city in Lower Austria.
The freedom of freedom in Vienna did better than in the other capitals of the state, but do not come to the former top values of Heinz-Christian Strache (who missed his commitment with his list) and of the national cities.
