US President Donald Trump has fired all researchers who have worked on a major climate study. The findings of the report must help States to prepare for the effects of climate change.
The “National Climate Assessment” is about to report “New York Times” and the Reuters news agency. The nearly 400 contributors received an e -mail in which they were pointed out for their dismissal. The study should have been published in 2028 and should inform federal and local authorities about how they can prepare for climate change.
Criticism of experts: “Nothing is going on”
In the message to the authors of the study, they were informed that the scope of the report was again evaluated – so that the researchers were reduced from their roles. “This comes as close as possible to the end of the evaluation,” said climate expert Jesse Keenan, professor of Tulane University. “If you end up from everyone involved, nothing will go.”
Since 2000, reports have been regularly founded in the United States on how climate heating influences health, agriculture, fishing, water supply, traffic, energy generation and other areas. The report recently appeared in 2023.
The researchers and experts who work on the climate ranking are voluntarily available for the task. The report is ultimately checked in different rounds by 14 federal authorities and goes through a public comment phase. The entire process is followed by the Global Change Research Program – this federal group was founded in 1990 by the congress and also supported by NASA Space Authority.
