15 billion required – whole list: Now the hour of the Sparmer is correct

Date:

Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer will donate “Pure Wine” in his budget speech on Tuesday. How to swear by saving 15 billion euros and Austria by saving.

Hardly a state budget was established in such a short time. Hardly a budget had to save so many billions. Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer sought no less than 15.1 billion euros for the double budget of 2025/26. (For information: 2025 is 6.4 billion and 8.7 billion euros in 2026). The savings of the Republic only bleed for six weeks.

How did that work? In contrast to the first attributions in order to the Minister of Finance, the passionate left -wing economist turned out not to be the “explosive master of the coalition”. On the contrary, pragmatism became a stability factor. Even in the ÖVP, the handshake of the Red Finance Minister is now estimated.

A noble gesture is added, the People’s Party rewarded – there was no criticism from Marterbauer from his predecessor Magnus Brunner, who really left him a difficult inheritance. The Minister of Finance has no time for a small political war.

“Renovation does not happen from joke and tooth”
On Tuesday the resident of Swede is confronted with his big hour. The budget speech in parliament, with which he has to convince Austria of the Painful austerity course. How does he prepare for the speech of the year that lasts more than an hour? The majority of the speech has written. Input for the speech also came “from outside” to obtain other perspectives.

In the narrower circle, ie in the Minister’s cabinet, the draft was then critically and constructively discussed several times. The Red Renovator wishes his employees to open open and honesty in such advisory groups.

Marterbauer will represent himself as a “renovator, who decides on the basis of facts, data and scientific analyzes”. His claim is to “go a transparent way”. He wants to “cast pure wine in the budget state”.

The Minister of Finance will also calculate that the renovation has not been “passed on from Jux and Royalry”, but is economically inevitable – instead of spending “money on interest for government debt, Austria must be room again for investments in health, care, education”. And he will appeal that “everyone should contribute, but the renovation tax must be fairly distributed over the social groups and economic actors.”

Despite the horrific gap of billion dollars that Marterbauer had to fill, he is convinced that only the “spirit of cooperation can succeed in controlling the challenges”. It is great that Marterbauer did not lose hope despite the budget crisis.
