The short -ceases -fires in the economic war between the world powers seems to be over: as soon as Genf has made progress in customs questions, the technological conflict between Washington and Beijing again escalates. This time the Ki-chip offensive of Huawei is in the center, against which the United States now mobilize worldwide.
There was recently a breathing time in the customs flict between the US and China, but now new problems with the trade in AI chips is coming. Beijing protests sharply against American warnings in third countries not to buy progressive chips from the Chinese tech group Huawei.
The Chinese Ministry of Trade described a corresponding American directive as “one -sided bullying and protectionism”, which seriously influences the global semiconductor industry and supply chains.
The US government has recently warned companies worldwide to use the so-called Ascend Ki chips from the group from the South China Shenzhen. According to Washington, their use can violate American export checks.
Beijing threatens countermeasures
The Ministry of Trade in Beijing accused the United States to deny other countries the right to develop in important areas such as artificial intelligence and high technology. In addition, organizations or persons who implement or support these US measures can be held responsible in accordance with Chinese legislation.
China asked the United States to immediately correct its “wrong decisions” and to respect international economic and trade rules. The developments will be carefully observed and “certain measures” to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
US wants to delay China at AI
The United States have tried to prevent advanced chips from the American group Nvidia on the Chinese market. Huawei therefore drives the development of his own AI chips with high pressure. With the new American requirements, however, Huawei can be more difficult to sell your chips in third countries.
The United States and China in Geneva have recently reached a temporary agreement to reduce the rates in the current trade conflict. According to some observers, the new American limitations can now endanger this progress.
