The American Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth ordered Friday that journalists should have official guidance in large parts of the Pentagon building.
The new rule is the youngest in a number of limitations that Trump’s government imposes the press. The measure that comes into effect with immediate effect prohibits reporters to stop at the Ministry of Defense’s head office in Arlington, Virginia, unless they have an official approval and support.
“Although the ministry continues to work for transparency, the ministry is also obliged to protect CSNI (closing) and sensitive information-disguium passion can endanger the lives of family members of the US armed forces,” said Hegseeth.
The Pentagon Press Association, a member organization that represents the interests of the press corps, reports that on the US Army, described the new rules as “direct attack on the freedom of the press”.
