The Biedges ATACMS missiles from the government were also supplied in an earlier and therefore less range variants. It is unclear on both weapons whether the Ukrainians still have shares, because the West itself had no particularly large stocks.

Merz ‘words are risky
So his announcement will make no difference on the battlefield. The broad appearance of Merz raised expectations that did not even start with resisting a practical test. It seems much more as if the former lobbyist, who has never held a government office, has to pay a lot of tuition fees.

His clear lead against the Kremlin can renew many, but can quickly wear out in the face of such performances. Before his election as Chancellor, Merz had promised to release the Taurus (reach more than 500 kilometers) for Kiev. It could effectively disrupt the infrastructure in Russia, which is indispensable for air strikes on Ukraine. These include airports, production facilities and ammunition stores.

Putin tested Europe
That would now be important, because, according to security experts, the war reaches a new phase in which Moscow wins the upper hand with his mass -produced weapons. “It is now up to Europeans who want to act to help Ukraine push Putin back into peace and to give diplomatic efforts the necessary strength,” Nico Lang said on the X.
