Austria is confronted with a financial test: to control the approaching budget deficit for 2025, drastic austerity measures must be implemented. But has our government grown and does it start the red pencil fairly? In your opinion, where should the government save to shape the household?
The federal government is not confronted with an easy task: it must save 59 billion euros by 2029 – this should succeed with a large -scale savings package. The first measures for this package include the abolition of the climate bonus, cutbacks in educational leave, higher taxes on gambling and tobacco and the elimination of various tax benefits. Release options for the unemployed must also be limited and an increase in retirement age must also be checked.

Many critics point out that some of the measures are pure number of tricks – simple redistributions that reduce the deficiency in a mathematical way, but do not represent a sustainable solution.
Moreover, it is often criticized that the burden of savings mainly affects medium -sized companies at medium -sized companies – that is, those who are not dependent on government support, but still suffer strongly from higher taxes, reducing subsidies and limited services. From the point of view of many observers, structural reforms are missing, for example in administration or in the case of financing structures, largely.
