Almost eight out of ten respondents (78 percent) EU citizens are concerned about “defense and safety”. This stems from the latest Eurarbarometer survey published on Wednesday. EU’s approval has increased.
Almost every second person investigated relies on the EU. About two -thirds see the future of the European Union positive, although they are not very optimistic about the economic situation. The Austrians surveyed are average trust in confidence. More than every second person in Germany (56 percent) regards the situation of their own economy as “bad”.
The economic situation is relatively better classified at European level. Almost nine out of ten respondents (86 percent) believe that the increasing rates in damage to the world economy damage. If other countries increase their rates to the import of the EU, counter -rates must be charged.
Desire for common security policy
Three -quarters of the survey participants stated that they feel like EU citizens. The clear majority (81 percent) is for a joint defense and safety policy of the Member States.
Among the 26,368 respondents from all Member States is also the will to help people in Ukraine. 80 percent are in favor of accepting Ukrainian refugees in the EU. Only one track less (72 percent) supports economic sanctions against Russia. The majority (about 60 percent) also agree that Ukraine will receive the status of an EU candidate country.
Brunner: “Reliable partner”
“The EU is a reliable partner, especially in times of global turbulence,” said the results of the EU committee. The European Union would strengthen more cooperation in areas such as Security and Defense.
