Polls: – The number of government polls could fall further

Date:

Halfway through the current legislature: the turquoise-green coalition has been in power in Austria for more than two and a half years, reason for a small interim evaluation. And it turns out to be very mixed: The current government team is miles away from previous approval ratings during the first lockdown. Since then, the sense of corona mismanagement has crept in, along with ugly WhatsApp chats and the word “corruption” being mentioned repeatedly.

The era of Sebastian Kurz is now history, many ministers have left. “The turquoise-green coalition currently has about 31.32 percent approval – a dramatic drop since the last National Council elections in 2019,” said IFDD pollster Christoph Haselmayer in “Questioned” with Gerhard Koller. And it could go down even further, as people’s deep concerns about the energy supply coming winter and the problems with prices exploding further and further have an additional negative effect on government perception.

Haselmayer fears diesel prices of around 3 euros per liter – and a drastic explosion in electricity costs. You can see even more details in the video above.
