The government has actually decided to minimize the political influence in ORF. The Governor of Burgenland, who had initiated the reform by his walk to the VFGH, now criticizes: “Cosmetic measures are too little.”
It was the governor of the Burgenland who initiated the ORF reform with a complaint at the Constitutional Court (VFGH). Hans Peter Doskozil (Spö) is dissatisfied with what has happened so far. After yesterday’s “crown” report on “Reförmchen”, Doskozil reported in clear words.
In his longer question, he believes that the “anachronistic” hearing of heads of state now disappeared when ordering state directors. However, this is far too little for a serious depolitization of the Media Group of the public service. It should not stop with cosmetic measures.
“ÖVP has ruled unabashedly”
“The great Democratic problem that had shared through various sideletter destructions always that the ÖVP ruled unabashedly in the ORF complete as a chancellor party, regardless of the coalition partner,” says Doskozil’s office. To exclude this in the future, a more consistent reform of the ORF Act will be necessary.
Burgenland again sent the composer and conductor Christian Kolonovits to the board of directors for the new period. He acts independently and without instructions – and will not continue to participate in every “circle of friends,” it said.
