Sharp SPÖ criticism – disabled for quarantine “definitely the wrong thing”

Date:

A concept currently circulating provides for the end of the corona quarantine. Instead, there should be traffic restrictions so that infected people can return to the office or tavern in the future – wearing a mask. Exceptions are apparently only planned for sensitive areas. While the Ministry of Health emphasizes that this is a working version, the SPÖ protests vigorously. The government wants to “needlessly push through through massive easing”, criticizes federal manager Christian Deutsch.

Instead of isolation, according to the draft regulation from which “Today” quotes, only one traffic restriction should apply in the future. You can go to work, the restaurant or the sports field if you are sick with Corona, but only with a mask. Vulnerable areas, such as hospitals, nursing homes, kindergartens or primary schools, should remain exempt. The background is the blatant lack of staff in many areas due to the Corona outages. “Even infected and sick people” have to go back to work, SPÖ politician Deutsch lamented in a broadcast.

‘Government sleeps through the third summer’
He once criticized the turquoise-green federal government’s pandemic management. “The government of Nehammer is doing the wrong thing with sleepwalking certainty. With Corona, the government is already sleeping through the third summer,” said Deutsch. Given the increasing number of infections, it is a mistake to drop the quarantine rules.

However, the office of Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) told the APA that a decision had not yet been made as to whether the quarantine would actually end. There is no exact plan yet.

Hacker: no coordination with countries so far
Criticism also comes from Vienna City Hall, the city government simply refuses to lift the quarantine. The Minister of Health recently announced that coordination with the federal states must take place before a decision is made on the future course of action. That has not yet happened, it said on Thursday at the APA request in the office of Health Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ).

The town hall now suspects that the end has been put on hold for the time being. It is believed there has been a rethink in the federal government and they have realized that such a drastic change in pandemic management is not a good idea, a spokesman said.
