Bake Bidea and Artisans of Peace they maintain the mobilizations and blockages of transport met in Iparralde this Saturday to demand the release of ETA prisoners Jakes Esnal and Ion Parot, despite the ban imposed by the Pyrenees-Atlantiques prefecture.
In particular, Bake Bidea and Artesanos de la Paz have called for the blocking of roads, railways and other infrastructure, but Prefect Eric Spitz has banned the mobilizations because the two convening organizations “failed to respect the necessary formalities for the declaration of the demonstration” , and has warned that it will go to court against the participants.

Esnal and Parot have been sentenced to life imprisonment in France, where they have already served for 32 years, for their involvement in several ETA attacks.
A court in Paris ordered the provisional release of both in June, but the prosecution appealed the decision. The criminal division of the Paris Court of Appeal will rule on this request for conditional release on September 22.
